The over riding goal of ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’ is to produce the strongest possible team, who are at the peak of their ability in time to fulfil their highest potential at the World Cadet Championships.
In order to have the information to select this team ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’
- Runs a ranking point system that is open to all boys under the age of 17 at the start of the year of the World Championships in question
This ranking system is based on results of
- Specified British events that are open to all
- Nominated British events that are open to all
- Nominated foreign events open to a selected squad, the squad being selected from the ranking list
From this ranking list ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’ selects a squad to compete in foreign competitions, the team for the European Cadet Championships and ultimately the team for the World Championships.
In order that the selected squad should be able to compete in the nominated foreign events ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’ organises and runs trips to the nominated foreign fencing competitions.
- These trips should be safe and rewarding, offering all taking part a stimulating experience of life, competition, foreign travel and foreign culture
- Should allow for a for a squad of 16 selected cadets to participate
- Should equip the team with the experience necessary to perform at the World Championships
Further it is the role of ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’
- To make available to all cadets the information required allowing them the opportunity of becoming one of the selected cadets
- To make the opportunity to fence abroad available to as large a group from as wide a background and circumstances as is possible
- To raise funds to help finance the activities of ‘GB Boys Cadet Epee’
- To offer training, through training days and courses that will help cadets perform to the best of their potential on these trips and consequently also in domestic events
- To educate and motivate cadets by keeping them up to date with relevant information throughout the season
Through our efforts to circulate information and motivate cadets we hope to increase participation in Boys Cadet Epee.
